These beautiful handmade + Fair Trade sisal baskets are woven by a self-help group of lady weavers in a remote village in Kenya. Each basket can take up to 7 days to complete, and requires a very skilful weaver. No two baskets are the same, as the patterns are unique to the weavers own interpretation of the natural terrain. The rich colors of these baskets are based off of the color of the soil in this remote area in Kenya.
Use the Tamaduni baskets as a planter (DO NOT plant directly into the basket), or as storage in any area of your home!! These versatile baskets hit the mark on design and quality.
Dimensions - Approx. 9" Diameter x 9" Tall
Working directly with these local women brings them empowerment, financial security and additional income for themselves and their families!
Please note, as these are a handmade item - Design, color, and size will vary slightly from basket to basket. Baskets are shipped flattened to ship more efficiently and will need to be reshaped to their intended shape.
TO RESHAPE YOUR BASKET
LIGHTLY mist/spray the two creased side seams of your basket, reshape by hand and leave to dry. DO NOT over dampen, to ensure the colors of your new basket will not bleed! For more information on how to reshape your basket, you can read this blog post!
